***** ANNOUCEMENTS *****

HURRICANE PREPAREDNESS:  We are now in the second month of the 2019 tropical storm season.  If you have not yet made preparations in the event a storm approaches our area, now is the time to do so.

Have questions?  Are you new to the area?  Then don't miss this month's general membership meeting on Wednesday, July 24 at 7:30 pm.  The meeting location is at St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 295 NW Prima Vista Blvd.  This month's presentation will be about Storm Preparations and Generator Safety.

***** SPECIAL EVENTS *****

FORT PIERCE HAMFEST:  Saturday, August 10, 2019 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Indian River State College, 3209 Virginia Ave, Fort Pierce.  There will be hourly prizes, vendors, forums, food, DXCC card checking, an ARRL forum and more.  All indoors in air conditioned comfort.  A VE test session will be held at 9:00 AM.  See the FORT PIERCE HAMFEST flyer for all the details.

VE LICENSE TESTING SESSION:  Saturday, July 13, 8:30 AM at the St. Lucie County Emergency Operations Center, 15305 W. SKYWARN TRAINING:  Friday, July 19 at the St. Lucie County EOC, 15305 W Midway Road.  The Melbourne office of the National Weather Service will be offering Basic and Advanced Skywarn training.  Basic training will run from 10 AM to 12 noon.  Advanced training will run from 1 PM to 3 PM.  YOU MUST PRE-REGISTER TO PARTICIPATE.  See the Special Events section at the top of this page for registration details.  Space is limited, so sign up early to be sure of reserving a seat.

***** FUTURE EVENTS *****

CROSSTOWN PARKWAY BRIDGE GRAND OPENING:  Saturday, September 28, 2019.  The city of Port Saint Lucie is planning a huge celebration for the completion of the Crosstown Parkway project.  Should PSLARA consider operating a special event station at the celebration?  And would you interested in assisting with a special event station?  Tell us your thoughts about this idea by sending an email to info@pslara.com.  We look forward to receiving your comments.

DUES REMINDER:  If you have not already paid your 2019 dues, please do so now.  See an officer or director at any club event to pay your dues.  Either cash or check is acceptable  Or, you can send your dues by mail.  Dues are $25.  Make a check (no cash in the mail, please) payable to PSLARA and send to PSLARA, PO Box 7461, Port Saint Lucie, FL 34985.

DICK CASADA, W4DAC:  Dick is still recovering at the Brennity Assisted Living Facility located at 10685 SW Stoney Creek Way, Port Saint Lucie, FL 34987. Brennity is a gated facility. If you wish to visit Dick and find the gate closed, follow instructions on the sign near the gate and use the keypad to enter the indicated code. The receptionist will admit you onto the property. Everyone please keep Dick, his wife Dawn and their family in your prayers.

EMAIL SYSTEM UPDATE:  The club's migration to a new email system hosted by GoDaddy is complete.  Most emails sent by the club are now sent from the new platform.  If you are not receiving our emails, please verify your email address on the club web site.  If it is wrong, send an email to info@pslara.com telling us your correct email address and we will update the mail system.

ECHOLINK - Echolink is now back in operation on the club's 146.955 MHz repeater.  Our Echolink node id is 644473.  A big THANK YOU to Harold, W8PPI, for volunteering to host the Echolink equipment in his shack.  And also a big THANK YOU to the team who worked to make it happen.  Good job team!

WHO WE ARE 
The Membership of the Port Saint Lucie Radio Amateur Radio Association (PSLARA) is comprised of licensed amateur radio operators and persons interested in the "ham" radio hobby. We are an official affiliated club of the American Radio Relay League (ARRL).
 
OUR PURPOSE 
PSLARA s purpose is to promote Amateur Radio as a hobby. Accordingly, the goals of PSLARA are to further the exchange of information and cooperation among members, to promote radio knowledge, fraternalism, and individual operating efficiency. We aim to conduct club meetings, programs and activities in a manner that advances the general interest and welfare of Amateur Radio. The Association is also dedicated to providing emergency communications as a public service in the event of a local or national emergency.
 
OUR MEETINGS 
The monthly meetings of the PSLARA are held the fourth Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. The meeting location is St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 295 NW Prima Vista Blvd. in Port Saint Lucie. The church is located one block west of the intersection of Prima Vista Blvd and Airoso Blvd.  Meetings are open to all persons interested in ham Radio.  Visitors are always welcome.

OUR ACTIVITIES 
Our many programs include several major social events a year.  We also participate in several community events annually. 
 
MEMBERSHIP 
Membership in the PSLARA is open to all who have an interest in amateur radio. You do not need to be a licensed amateur operator to become a member. An application form is available under the "CONTACT US" tab. Membership dues are $25 per year. For members, dues are due by the end of December in the amount of $25.00.  Make checks payable to PSLARA, Inc. and mail them to PSLARA, P. O. Box 7461, Port St. Lucie, FL 34985.
