ANNUAL ELECTION OF PSLARA BOARD OFFICERS AND DIRECTORS
At the November 2022 general membership meeting, a call was made for a slate of 2023 Board officers and directors.  Voting for the slate of officers and directors is via online. A link to voting online was emailed to all members in good standing.
If you are unable to vote via online, please contact our Secretary, Bruce, WA3RHW at info@pslara.com.

ANNUAL HOLIDAY PARTY - DECEMBER 10, 2022

There will be no December 2022 membership meeting. Instead we are having our annual holiday party on December 10, 202 at the Veterans Resource Center located on the Saint Lucie West Campus of Indian River State College.  The address is 500 NW California Blvd. (N 27.32820 W 80.39816)  All members and XYLs (or guest) are invited to attend. Click here for a map showing the location of the Veterans Resource Center.

While we hope our club members can attend in-person meetings, we realize that is not always possible due to transportation, physical limitations and time of day. Because of these and other reasons, we are investigating ZOOM for those club members who are unable to attend in-person meetings. Please look for ZOOM connection info via our monthly meeting email announcement.

Please note regular monthly membership meeting time is now 7:00 PM.

PSLARA PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Welcome… And thanks for visiting our web site.

As I write this message, Hurricane Ian is thankfully in the rear view mirror.  But it certainly left a terrible trail of destruction behind it.

Fortunately, Port St. Lucie - and the entire the Treasure Coast area of Florida for that matter - dodged a bullet on this one.  Yes, we had some power outages, downed trees and minor damage.  But the worst of our impacts were nothing compared to those experienced by our poor friends over on Florida's southwest coast, where many lost virtually everything they own.  The loss of life and destruction left in Hurricane Ian's wake are truly overwhelming.

In disasters such as Hurricane Ian there are a few agencies and groups that can always be counted on to provide assistance.  Among them are FEMA, the American Red Cross and ARES - the Amateur Radio Emergency Service. I can assure you the ARES groups in southwest Florida were, and still are, actively providing communications support to the local population.  (click here to read the full president's message)

Bob Brown, AI4RB
PSLARA President

PSLARA RAGCHEW, TECH AND TRADING NET
PSLARA has a Ragchew, Tech and Traders Net every Thursday, 7:30 PM  on the club's 146.995 (-), 107.2 VHF analog repeater.  Please  click Calendar of Events (or Events at top of this page) for details. EchoLink is temporarily down and needs a club member to take over operation. When EchoLink is operational, please leave a 3 to 4 second break before talking.

The PSLARA needs Net Operators for the Ragchew, Tech and Trading Net.  Being a Net Operator is fun and provides good experience that every ham should have.  Net scripts are available, but checking into the net is a great way to learn how it is organized and run. Please give consideration to being a Net Operator.

BREAKFAST SOCIAL
Our breakfast social, normally held the first Saturday of every month 8:30AM at Golden Corral (the group meets at the far right side), St. Lucie West Blvd, was suspended during the COVID pandemic.  We hope to get this fun group back together. If you are interested in attending, please let us know at info@pslara.com. We hope to see you there once the group meets again.

SLOW SPEED CW TRAINING NET
The twice weekly Slow Speed CW training net was hosted by Paul, W4ISZ for over five years. The Net helped many hams learn CW or improve their CW proficiency.  With Paul needing a break, it was decided to stand down the net for a while. If demand warrants, the CW Training Net may return.  We thank Paul for hosting this net for so many years.  Watch this page for any future announcements about the CW Training Net. For more information please click PCN Learn CW.

SILENT KEY HAM RADIO EQUIPMENT & RELATED ITEMS
At the request of a silent key family, the PSLARA can help inventory and sell ham radio equipment and related items.  This is a service the PSLARA provides to silent key club member families and non-members.  The PSLARA also accepts silent key ham radio equipment and related items donations.   Donations are used to sustain club operations.
